Fully supported overnight
bike packing adventure
Join us for an overnight bike packing adventure from Patagonia Cardiff
Local bike shop owner, Gordon from VeloHangar, will drive a support vehicle. He will transport any of your gear that you prefer not to carry on your bike. Gordon will also fix any mechanical issues during the ride and professionally tune your bike once we are at the Farm.
The bike camping adventure—including all meals and bike support—costs $150 per person with 10% of all proceeds benefiting San Diego Mountain Bike Association.
Please contact us for being added to a wait list or to be notified for the next event. Thank you!!
When to meet? Meet at Patagonia Cardiff at 9 am on Saturday, October 12.
When do we return? We will return to Patagonia Cardiff around 3 pm on Sunday, October 13.
Will my bike work for this bike packing event? Almost any geared bike that you can ride 40 miles on will work—beach cruisers or fixies are not a good choice because of the hilly terrain. The route to the farm is mostly paved roads and bike paths with some packed dirt.
Is my skill level up for this? We will ride 4-5 hours and you will be challenged with some moderately difficult inclines. We will ride as a group with plenty of encouragement. This adventure is probably not ideal for first time cyclists.
What gear should I bring? You will need basic cycling and camping gear. You can bike pack your gear or we can transport it there for you. After you sign up, we will send you our recommended gear list.
Who are the bike guides? Troy Yasuda and Matteo Pistono.
Troy Yasuda is the coordinator for all bike events at Patagonia Cardiff, including the Sea Rambler, bike packing trips, and films. Troy grew up racing BMX and then transitioned into track racing at the velodrome in San Diego. Now that he's a dad, Troy focuses on his family and commuting to work by bike. He enjoys promoting bike camping and commuting as a purist way to get outdoors and experience nature without the dependence on cars.
Matteo Pistono leads bike packing trips and social rides for Patagonia Cardiff. A Wyoming native, Matteo has been riding on dirt since he started pedaling a bike and continues to seek out cycling adventures including endurance mountain bike races and multi-day bike packing trips. When he is not cycling, Matteo writes books about Buddhism and meditation.
